Born and raised in Northern Indiana on the shores of Lake Michigan, I attended Purdue University and Indiana University to study Physiology and Germanic Studies.

Although I started studying German my first year of high school (9th grade), my interest in and passion for the language and culture were truly ignited when I participated in a high school exchange between my hometown of Michigan City and Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, which inspired me to become a German teacher in the USA.

Spending a year in Augsburg and at Holbein Gymnasium has been one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences of my life thus far, and it has only reinforced my interest in wanting to become a teacher. I loved not only getting to know the faculty and students, but the German culture from an entirely new perspective, as well.

I hope I was able to teach the students as much as many of them taught me, as I will be bringing this priceless experience and knowledge back to the USA. Augsburg and Holbein Gymnasium will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to coming back and visiting in the many years to come!
